IASL 2022 Hybrid Conference and Research Forum | Call for Proposals

The International Association of School Librarianship, the University of South Carolina School of Information Science, and the South Carolina Association of School Librarians invite professional and research contributions to the 50th Annual Conference and the 25th International Forum on Research in School Librarianship. The IASL conference is dedicated to the advancement of theory and practice in school librarianship. The IASL 2022 Conference invites contributions to:

Conference Topic Areas

Each year, the IASL conference has an overarching theme connecting keynote speeches, discussions, presentations, workshops, Special Interest Group meetings, and poster presentations. This year, the theme is “School Librarianship and the Evolving Global Information Landscape” divided into three main topic areas: a) Building community relationships; b) Diversity, equity, and inclusion; and c) Misinformation, disinformation, and social media. Proposals that address the theme, topic areas, and other aspects of school librarianship in general are welcome. See below for examples under each:

General Submission Guidelines for All Proposals

To maintain the high quality of presentations at the conference and to ensure that the review process is equitable and fair, all proposal submissions must be made in English. Proposals that can be submitted as virtual presentations will be marked with [F2F or Virtual]. Before submitting your proposal, please have the following information prepared:
  • Complete contact information for the person submitting the proposal
  • Names, email addresses, and affiliations of all presenters
  • A 30 word max biography statement for each presenter
  • Title of the proposal
  • Strand under which your proposal falls and the type of proposal
  • A 100 word max description of the proposal to be included in the program (please make this description engaging and exciting!)
Proposals must be submitted as a .doc, .docx, .rtf, or .pdf file format. Font is Times New Roman, size 12, 1.5 line spacing with references single-spaced. All references and in-text citations should conform to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th edition).

​Strand A: IASL Professional Conference

​Proposals submitted to Strand A will be reviewed by members of the program committee with selection based on content quality, relevance to conference theme, and originality. Proposal Submission is Closed for 2022. Click on each Strand A category below for specific submission instructions. Remember to prepare a paper copy of your proposal since the system will ask for its submission in preparation for conference proceedings.

Strand B: International Forum on Research in School Librarianship

Proposals submitted to Strand B will be reviewed in a double-blind review process by members of the IASL Research Special Interest Group. The EXTENDED deadline for all Strand B submissions is March 18, 2022, 11:59 p.m. ET (UTC-5:00).
